These two are SO fun to be around! Their wedding day was no different. We were constantly beaming ear to ear with smiles that made our cheeks sore by the end of the day!
Josiah&Hanna totally compliment one another and can be total goofballs together which we love! During portraits, we’d have them shift into a romantic movement (which they were total naturals at by the way)…but then one of them would make a joke to the other and they’d both start cracking up. You can see from the photo and hear from the video that these two have the most fun together! They are always going on some new adventure or dressing up with a group of friends for the latest movie premiere.
We’ve been doing some website updates lately which include updating the header video on our website homepage. It’s not updated yet but check back soon and you might see a change!
We decided to shift the focus of our website header video to some actual wedding footage we have shot and immediately thought of this gorgeous wedding from this destination wedding film shot in Charleston, South Carolina. This wedding film at Lowndes Grove Plantation is still in the works, so this is just a little tease of what’s to come! To stay in line with the dimensions of the website header, we had to crop the film to a cinematic 2.35:1 ratio, also known as anamorphic. This, paired with the cinematic music and visuals just makes for such a powerful little piece and we really love the way it looks!
We had the honor of filming and photographing Billy&Tristin’s ten-year vow renewal in one of the most beautiful locations on earth. Thirty of their closest friends and family all traveled from Nevada to California to witness Billy&Tristin recite their vows in a peaceful spot surrounded by gorgeous Redwood trees.
Now we don’t like to play favorites around here, so we don’t say this often…but this is one of our favorite wedding videos ever! It is one of our favorites for three reasons.
1. Laura is my (Stephen) sister!!! Being able to capture memories like this for family is truly special. Working with family is a breeze too because everyone is already comfortable with each other and there’s no added pressure or stress. We both have siblings but Laura was the first to get married and it was an honor to be able to capture her and Jovanni’s story on film. On top of that, my dad was the one officiating the wedding. He did an awesome job and was able to tell the couple’s story so well.
2. This wedding was in one of the most beautiful places in the world to shoot, Panama! The wedding was held at the historic Panamá Viejo. Everywhere you look at this venue, there are old ruins from the old Panama city. It is so fun to explore, and definitely a great backdrop for photos and videos. While we were in Panama, we visited the San Blas islands, which you’ll see glimpses of in this film as well. They are these secluded little islands in the middle of the ocean. If you’re ever in Panama, these islands are a must visit place!
3. We brought along some photo and video friends of ours Brittney&Caleb for this wedding to help us capture the day. They are a husband and wife photo video duo just like us based out of Minnesota. We shot their wedding back in 2015 and have stayed in touch ever since. Because this was a family wedding, we wanted to make sure we had amazing second shooters to help capture parts of the day where we needed to be in photos (like family photos). They did awesome and we are so thankful we invited them along for the adventure!
Jovanni&Laura’s wedding day was so fun to capture! From the anticipation of getting ready, the moments where we thought it might just rain (but it didn’t), and that first look…wait ’till you see that first look! It was all just perfect. The friends and family that surrounded these two love them so dearly and it truly shows.
After a long and dry summer drought, the skies opened up and Chico was bombarded with rain! It was the first week of January and these two were planning the celebration of a lifetime. According to the forecast, rain was inevitable. Luckily, Aaron&Jessie had planned ahead and chose the perfect venue for a wet winter day, Lakeside Pavilion. With so many outdoor venue options in Chico, weddings can run into issues if the clouds overhead decide to downpour…but not at Lakeside! The ceremony was set up inside with guests seated at their reception tables, comfy and dry!
We snuck these two outside under a nearby covering for a little privacy and natural light during their first look and portraits. They were troopers and no amount of rain could spoil this day. We heard it from so many people, during speeches, and in conversations. These two just mesh, they are perfect for one another. It was so fun to hear about their history when Aaron’s mom dug out a love letter from back in high school! What made this day extra special was it was on the anniversary of their first kiss.
One of our favorite parts of the day was when the officiant had everyone in the audience stand. He explained how he was a fan of baseball and how at baseball games, if the home team is down, they will get the crowd to just scream and yell, showing their support. Sometimes this is all the team needs to boost their moral and finish the game strong. During the wedding ceremony he had everyone in the audience stand, and on the count of three, they went wild! Aaron&Jessie stood there with their eyes closed and just felt the immense love that surrounded them from all angles. Just hearing the size and depth of the crowd, full of family and friends that were rooting for team Aaron&Jessie, it was such a powerful moment.
After dating for some years, Aaron was ready to propose. It was Christmas day and he planned a sweet surprise in Upper Bidwell park for Jessie. When the arrived on the scene, Jessie totally thought it was for someone else and started snapchatting the details. When she turned around Aaron had a GoPro recording as he popped the question, so cute! We love the energy these two bring to a room, they are lighthearted and always cracking jokes. The way they love and care for one another is inspiring and we’re so glad we were able to capture a glimpse of their love story through a wedding video. Toby&Jessica met at middle school dance! She was in 7th grade and he was in 8th at the time. Isn’t that the cutest thing you’ve ever heard?!?
Little did they know that day that they would be getting married on a rainy day in October. Toby&Jessica are such a good pair, they truly compliment one another.
Their wedding day was forecasted for rain but that didn’t change the positive mood these two had all day long! Miraculously, the rain held up just enough and we were able to get portraits of these two, their bridal party and even family photos done prior to the ceremony before it started dumping. During the ceremony guests cozied up under a tent as these two proclaimed their love for one another. Their vows were heartfelt and had happy tears streaming down people’s faces like the rain just outside the tent.
From their engagement photo session, to their wedding photos and now their film, Toby&Jessica have been just the best! They are so easy going, fun to be around and their love for one another makes capturing them on camera a breeze. We’re so excited for their future and the love-based legacy that they’re creating through their marriage.
Editing this film we couldn’t help but smile the entire time. These two have a joy that is truly contagious. From their heartfelt and hilarious vows, to their funky fresh dance moves, these two were such a pleasure to capture on film. Their wedding day was hot, but that didn’t phase these two one bit. They had cute white umbrellas ready for guests to shade themselves during the ceremony which was a great idea!
We knew these two knew had a good time from their engagement session they requested to do at a fair! The loved the bright colors, the fun atmosphere and we totally know why. It truly fits their personalities! Their wedding was the same theme, incredibly FUN, colorful, and inspired by their favorite Disney movie, UP. These two went all out to make sure their guests also had the time of their lives at this wedding. The delicious food, the choreographed dances, and not to mention the ice cream, popcorn, and other sweet treats! They even brought along our very own TréBooth to this one which was super fun to have around!
One thing we love most about this couple is their laughter and spunk they have for life. They weren’t afraid to completely be themselves in planning this wedding. We can’t think of a time that these two didn’t have a smile on their face throughout the day. We have no doubt that Ricky&Anjelica’s marriage will be filled with lots of great adventures, laughter, family and some crowd-pleasing dance moves! Thank you Ricky&Anjelica for asking us to be part of your amazing wedding. Your family is just as amazing as you two and we were blessed to spend a beautiful summer day with you all!
The Rising Tide Society community means the world to Chelsey and I! We had been craving a better creative industry community here in Chico and when we heard about RTS and these Tuesdays Together meet-ups, we knew we had to bring it to Chico!
We applied to be leaders of the Chico chapter and before we knew it we were diving in head first. We added all the creatives we knew to our local Facebook group and just watched it grow from there!
This January, we met up with a bunch of other Rising Tide Society leaders for the annual leader’s retreat which this year was held in one of our favorite cities, San Francisco! It was held at the Honeybook headquarters which was SO fun for us to see too because we use and love HB.
There we had the honor of capturing the RTS story through a film which we have for you to watch below! The hopes is that through this film we can help continue to spread the word about this truly life-giving movement to new heights. One of the interview questions we asked was ‘How has Rising Tide Society impacted your local community?” It was SO cool to hear the responses from leaders from all over of how not only is RTS impacting their businesses and others around them, but giving back to the communities that surround them in positive ways.
If you’re reading this and hearing about Rising Tide Society for the first time, or maybe you’ve seen the hashtag #CommunityOverCompetition floating around Instagram, you need to check out the full film to see what this is all about.
P.S. I know, I know, this sounds like I’m about to sell you something. But RTS and Tuesdays Together meet-ups and resources are all completely FREE. We’re all about lowering the barrier to entry for creative entrepreneurs! If you’re a creative entrepreneur or small business owner you need to get involved! Find a local Tuesdays Together meetup near you and see what it’s all about.
We knew from the moment we met these two at their engagement session that working with them was going to be such a joy! They are easy going, carefree, and they love each other so well! Capturing their wedding through photos and a wedding film was so fun for us! Especially, because the officiant was one of our past grooms, Travis! Him and his wife Kelsey helped out so much and it was great seeing them again at this wedding! At the time Matt&Taylor got together, they both were working alongside Travis, so it was fun to hear him tell his fun third party story of how these two became a pair! We used his audio throughout the film to drive the wedding video’s narrative as well as snippets from the speeches during the reception.
Matt&Taylor were married at Lakeside Pavilion in Chico. They had their ceremony on the back patio overlooking the lake, and their reception inside the open large hall inside. For photo and video portraits of these two we walked over to a nearby spot which has lush trees and lots of good light!
Along with the other festivities, Matt&Taylor also had our photo booth there along for the fun which was a blast! Guests had a great time celebrating with these two on the dance floor and sent them off with style at the end of the night in Hotel Diamond’s getaway car. All in all, it was a wonderful day and we are thankful for Matt&Taylor trusting us with their photos and video. Make sure to full screen their film below and tell these two your favorite part of their day the comments below!
