Chico California Photography - Welcome Home Casey

Stephen and I love telling stories, stories that are captivating and that have emotion. Today I wanted to share a story that is very near and dear to my heart. Among the hundreds of blessings 2013 has already brought, there is one I wanted to put in the spotlight today.

My older brother Casey is in the Army. He knew from the beginning that he would be deployed and the place he would be sent to would not be safe. March came creeping up and soon our family was saying goodbye to Casey as he left for Afghanistan. There were many days I thought about him and prayed for a safe return. As the months passed and seasons changed, the countdown till his return became closer and closer.

Fortunately, my parents were able to fly to Colorado and see him right after he landed from Afghanistan, but the rest of us had to wait till his return to California for the Holidays.

As I look back on those 8 months, I’m so grateful for God’s protection and comfort that he gave our family. I’m thankful for the men and women who serve our country and with great honor and grace say goodbye to their loved ones time and time again for the rest of our nation’s protection.

Thank you Casey for serving your country with such courage. I can’t wait to see you again in March!!!
