Monthly Memorable Monday - October 2018

Happy October! I can’t believe September has now come and gone. It feels like we’ve blinked and the month is completely over. Pumpkin everything is in the air and I’m looking forward to all the beautiful leaves starting to change here in Northern California where we live. In years past, October has stayed relatively warm up until Halloween. As I’m sitting here writing this, we just had our first small rain storm which I’m SO happy about! Both Stephen and I prefer colder weather where we can bundle up and not be sweating all the time. This is especially true on wedding days.

Mendocino Area Vacation Suggestions - Destination Photographer

A few weeks ago Stephen and I were in Mendocino for a beautiful wedding on the coast at the Heritage House Resort. The wedding took place overlooking the cliffs and had the most spectacular views. Like most of our personal work, we only brought our medium format film camera. This time in particular, we chose only to shoot on our new Hasselblad so I could get used to using it faster for our newborn sessions. This camera is super fun as it’s all manual, has no batteries or anything. It shoots in a unique 6x6 square format which is fun and creatively challenging.

Griffith Park Los Angeles Photos - A Weekday Adventure

Several weeks ago we were in Los Angeles for the second round of Stephen's tattoo project. This will be one of the first of many trips throughout the next few years that we'll be making together to complete this piece. Stephen has been on a world-class tattoo artist's waitlist since 2013 and this year it was finally his time to start this exciting project.

We can't be the Handyman in every situation.

Stephen and I were reminded of a very good life lesson recently. While we were in LA one of our sprinklers went a little wild. It was spewing out water and most likely the culprit behind that big jump in our water bill recently. What looked like a simple fix to us, turned into a greater dilemma. This problem truly remind us to practice what we preach...

Wedding Photography Clothes - What Should I Wear

It seems a little strange to say we've been wedding photographers and videographers for over six years now.  We're so grateful for these years of growth and the amazing couples we get to work with every weekend.

We totally realize our systems may not be everyone else's preferences, but for us, these systems have been our saving grace. Everything from the way we outsource, plan our days, pack our gear, even down to the clothes we wear to shoot weddings.

We could talk a lot about these systems, but today we want to specifically share about the clothes we wear to shoot weddings. There's is an important WHY behind our clothes, it comes down to two main reasons.

Best Places to See in Portland Maine - Photo Recap

A few weeks ago, Stephen and I were in Portland Maine for a very exciting destination wedding for one of our TréCreative couples. Although we would have loved to stay longer, our day and a half of sight seeing and exploring the beautiful state of Maine was just what we needed. The wedding we were originally there for went off without a hitch and after sleeping in the next day, we started grabbing coffee.

A Season of Trimming

Left unattended, a vine will spend all it’s energy extending its branches. It will keep going until it literally has no energy left to produce leaves much less fruit. If you find a 20ft grape vine you’ll notice the first few feet may have fruit, then you’ll see leaves, and the end is all stick. A grapevine becomes a stick tree if it’s over extended. If you don’t prune the branch all the way back to it’s fruitfulness, then the vines capacity to produce fruit will be spent only to grow sticks.
