Butte Meadows Christmas Adventure 2018 - Chico Photographer
This was our annual Christmas Tree hunting adventure that we have been doing the past several years. You can see past blog posts here and here. A group of friends of ours always plans to go up the first weekend in December to cut down our Christmas Tree. This was a tradition my family did when I was growing up and I looked forward to playing in the snow each year with my brothers. After my family switched to an artificial tree in high school, the tradition picked back up again in college with friends.
The first year Stephen and I were married, we didn’t even decorate our house. We were going to be gone for the holidays so we skipped putting up decorations. Every year since I have looked forward to decorating our house and specifically going up to the mountains to cut down our tree. There was SO much snow this year and it was absolutely breathtaking! Driving up the mountain as we looked out the windows, the backdrop almost looked fake. We loved getting away for the afternoon and spending time with our friends.
This year, we cut down a HUGE tree! Our house has really high ceilings so we decided to find a tree the same height and it fits perfectly (see my Insta Stories). We’re looking forward to this holiday season and feeling extremely grateful this year. With everything that has happened with the devastating Camp Fire in our area, we’re extra thankful for time with friends and family in this season. We’re saddened for so many and definitely don’t want to take anything for granted.
So cheers for good friendships, adventures in the snow and yummy hot chocolate!
