Grand Isla de Navidad Resort - Destination Wedding Photographer - Justin&Courtney
Since getting back from Justin&Courtney's destination wedding we have been telling everyone about this amazing resort and quaint little city we visited in Mexico a couple weeks ago. We had heard people raving about the views but didn't expect to be in such a magical place!
Justin had visited the area years before and took a water taxi over to the resort from Barra de Navidad, the small village just across the water. While he was there he just so happened to see another destination wedding taking place at the same location the couple chose to have their ceremony years later. We now know what drew Justin to this amazing location, it is pretty spectacular.
We first met Justin&Courtney in person in Chicago for their engagement session and then met up with them at the airport on our way to the resort for their destination wedding. We were on a flight with a bunch of friends and family of these two from the wedding and we could feel the excitement building for everyone along the way. We shared a taxi from the airport out to the remote resort, all the while glued to the windows in awe of the gorgeous landscape around.
The wedding day was just perfect, it was sunny and warm with the perfect breeze. Justin&Courtney opted to do a first look and shared some private vows with each other during this time which was so special!
The ceremony was held out on a small peninsula overlooking the ocean bay. It was the perfect spot for a smaller destination wedding like this. Flowers lined the ground and all the guests were snapping their own photos to remember the moment.
After the ceremony we stole these two away for some more photos and then they headed off to the reception, decorated with authentic sombreros and piñatas. They danced the night away with family and friends and then started the party again the next morning! That’s one of the most fun things about destination weddings, it really extends the wedding experience into multiple days instead of just one. All your closest friends and family get to actually spend time with you throughout the course of the trip leading up to and sometimes following the wedding as well. We loved every second of this trip and are so thankful to Justin&Courtney for trusting us with their day.
