Chico California Wedding Photographer - Sam&Carlie

You might remember these two from our amazing Snowy Tahoe Engagement Session or from our anniversary celebration blog posts we have written before. Sam&Carlie are our dear friends from high school and were both in our own bridal parties! Needless to say, this wedding was super special for us! As some of you saw on Instagram, Stephen played two roles in this wedding, photographer and groomsmen. This was our second time having this scenario and it won’t be the last either! It was such a joy to photograph our friends!

Sam&Carlie met on their way to Mexico with a church group, they spotted each other from across the way. They soon started dating and seven yeas later they were married. While Stephen arrived at the guys for himself to get ready, I headed over to the girls. Carlie has had the same group of close friends since high school and they are each so fun to be around. What I appreciated most about them was how much they loved and complimented Carlie on her big day! And Carlie, she was such a radiant bride! Carlie’s wedding dress was a one of a kind, literally no one could copy it! She took her mother’s old wedding gown, altered it and made it new. Just love this idea!

Sam&Carlie chose to do a first look which allowed us extra time to drive to a few surrounding locations for photos before being greeted by bridal party. Once we met with the bridal party, Stephen switched from photographer to being a groomsmen and I took over the rest of the photos.

The ceremony and reception took place in Sam’s parent's backyard where guests were given red white and blue fans to keep themselves cool from the July heat. Many of you know this, but Stephen and I love dogs, like really love dogs! Sam&Carlie have the best dog around and he was part of the ceremony as the ring bearer :D Wait 'till you see the cute photos of him running down the isle, he did so good!

One of the things that Stephen and I really admire about Sam and Carlie is how loyal of friends they have been to us! They are both extremely hard working and always up for an adventure! Sam is trustworthy and a great problem solver. Besides being such a beautiful bride, Carlie has been a great friend, caring and contagiously fun to be around! These two have both encouraged us in our business endeavors and we're so thankful for them!
