Quincy Courthouse Northern California Wedding Photos - Chris&Courtney
What an amazing day celebrating Chris&Courtney. There were so many traditions, surprises and contagious laughter all throughout the day.
Chris and Courtney were married at the historic downtown Quincy Courthouse in Northern California. The Courthouse was breathtaking and had a three-story white marble staircase starting from the entrance that went up on either side. Close family and friends were seated on the bottom floor and others were invited to stand to get a beautiful aerial view of the couple sharing their vows together. As photographers, we loved how much natural light was everywhere. It was such a unique and unexpected ceremony location in this quaint little town.
From the ceremony, Chris and Courtney were driven by Courtney’s grandfather in his vintage car to a very special ice cream shop called The Polka Dot. From our first interaction with Chris and Courtney, they mentioned from the beginning how they wanted to take their entire bridal party after the ceremony to this special place for a treat. Courtney’s amazing parents were also married in Quincy and after their wedding ceremony, stopped at the Polka Dot with their bridal party. We re-created a few images from her parent's wedding day and all enjoyed the delicious ice cream as a way to cool off before heading to the reception. We think ice cream stops should become a mandatory thing from now on for wedding days. This little adventure will be something we’ll always remember.
From the Polka Dot, we followed the vintage car to the reception location. Courtney’s Aunt and Uncle own the property. Literally days before the wedding, the barn where the reception was held had been complete. It was the perfect backdrop for their reception.
At sunset, we headed out to the neighboring field for the dreamy golden hour portraits. I asked Chris what one of his favorite memories was throughout the day and he said riding top down in Courtney’s grandfather’s car all throughout town while cars honked in congratulations.
This wedding was already so breathtaking and brought so many family traditions in. After sunset photos, there was going to be another surprise that would be the icing on the cake for this wedding day. Earlier that week, I received a phone call from Courtney and her mom. They wanted to cue us in on a big surprise that was going to happen at the wedding reception. Courtney’s younger brother Chandler was going to propose to his girlfriend Mikayla. A proposal at a wedding, WHATTT, we were so excited! Cue the tears because there was not a dry eye in attendance when during the bouquet toss, Courtney faked her throw, then handed the bouquet to Mikayla. Chandler was right behind her and he dropped to one knee asking Mikayla to be his wife. What a special thing that Chris and Courtney shared their special day by bringing another loved person into the family.
Thank you Chris and Courtney for inviting us to be a part of your amazing wedding day. The future is bright for you guys!
