Our Three Year Anniversary Photos - Chico California Photographer
Stephen and I made a promise to each other and our couples after we got married.
That promise was that we would get in front of the camera at least once a year and experience what our couples experience when having their pictures taken. We want to always remember each year of marriage. To take a break from the busyness of life and just be together! We always are learning something about ourselves, our own relationship and we always are learning new ways to love our couples as well!
I first met Anna at the Pursuit Conference in Rome Georgia I attended a couple years back. Anna and I were in the same small group and she was just so sweet! She shared that alongside her husband Daniel, they were really praying about what was next for them. After the conference, I began following Anna on Instagram and loved seeing her jaw-dropping images but also seeing snippets of what she and Daniel were up to. After months of praying, Daniel decided to leave his corporate job and join forces with Anna. Since then, they have been travelling all over the country for portraits and weddings as well as exploring new places together. We love that adventurous spirit about them! I reached out to Anna a few months ago knowing her and Daniel would be back in California. I was really hoping our paths would cross and we would be able to do our three-year anniversary photos with them. Lucky for us, they were traveling in Northern California so we set a date on the calendar!
We met them in the Napa area at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park which reminded Stephen and me of the places we've gone hiking together in Upper Bidwell Park here in Chico! After the session, Anna and I were able to catch up on their most recent travels while Stephen and Daniel geeked out about video gear equipment. Thank you so much Daniel&Anna, we are so in love with our photos and will always cherish these!
We're so happy the way these turned out and am already making an album of our favorites! Having our own anniversary photos taken each year has inspired us to offer the same type of sessions to our couples! It's important to take time just as a couple to get dressed up, be together, and have some photos taken to make the moment last!
If I'm totally being honest, I was a bit of a hot mess a few days before these photos. I had a pretty big dress mishap and all my body insecurities were coming out all at once. I plan on writing another blog post about this experience in a few weeks. I definitely learned some valuable lessons that I don't want our brides to experience, so be on the lookout for that :D This had nothing to do with our photography experience, but everything to do with personal planning for our session!
When we showed up, the insecurities and dress mishap didn't matter anymore. What mattered was that Stephen and I were celebrating another year of marriage. Another year of growing and learning from each other and God. Marriage is a refining process, that brings out the good, the bad and the ugly. Yet marriage is such a gift. A lifelong journey and adventure I'm so thankful to be on with Stephen!
